about the abbey

We named the App “The Abbey” because historically an abbey was a place in the midst of a community that was a source of healing, rest, encouragement and exhortation for those both in the community and traveling through it. We have developed The Abbey App to be such a place in this new and developing information highway that has become a daily part of our lives.

The Abbey consist of three main sections:  reflection, meditation, and prayer.

It has been said that art is evidence that we have a soul, that there is something more than the surface. Our culture focuses on productivity and progress and we have lost the art of being still and knowing that He is God.

The Meditation section of the app is focused on helping to reawaken the long lost art.  Whether it be learning how to stop and ponder a piece of art or a performance, or stopping to listen to the melodic symphony of a bird in song, we will be in the process of cultivating the divine amidst the everyday, redeeming the mundane and being present in the moment.

The resources found in the Prayer section of the app are crafted to help  develop the area of prayer in our lives. Whether the struggle be finding the words to pray, knowing how to pray or remembering to pray, our desire is to help the body of Christ grow in the area of prayer.

"The possibilities of prayer are the possibilities of faith. Prayer and faith are Siamese twins. One heart animates them both. Faith is always praying. Prayer is always believing." -E.M. Bounds

“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:6

In our fast paced world we so often put our head down and push through, yet in doing so we miss much of what the Lord has done.  In Psalm 23, the goodness and loving kindness of the Lord follows us. Although we so often want the significance of things revealed at the start, it is only when we stop and cease from our efforts that we see the work of the Lord.

We long to be known. Yet we so often struggle to tell our own story to others. The Reflection section of our site will be a resource crafted to help you stop and reflect on God at work in your life.

a place of rest

We created The Abbey to help encourage and exhort our communities in their pursuit of God. We seek to help reclaim and cultivate sacred spaces that we have lost over the course of time and societal change.

a way to give

The proceeds from the monthly subscriptions to The Abbey are used in the creation and development of sustainable non-profit ministries. Our hope that is that as our user base expands, so does the number ministries that are supported by The Abbey.

As we expand we hope to start ministries serving the following areas: the special needs community, the refugee community and PTSD, grief and trauma victims.
